Middle school evildoers, beware! Champion of Justice to the rescue!

Tate Terwilliger and his grandfather share a love for old serials, old radio shows, and old-fashioned heroism. Armed with a pocketful of licorice and disguised by World War II goggles, Tate plans to do his grandpa proud by walking in the footsteps of all the old heroes. There’s the Lone Ranger, Tarzan, and now…Champion of Justice!

But keeping the halls of junior high safe is a bigger job than he anticipated. And with his plans gone awry, his secret identity compromised, and his pockets almost out of licorice, Tate must learn the lesson that all heroes learn: he’s not in this alone. Just when the day seems darkest and our hero seems defeated by the forces of evil, help comes from an unexpected ally.

I had to change my identity. There was no phone booth in the school's hallway. So I ran around a corner to where there was no one to see me. I opened my lunch bucket and pulled out my disguise. It was a World War II soft leather helmet and goggles borrowed from Grandpa, a collector's item. I fitted it to my head, buckled it under my chin and adjusted the goggles over my eyes. I was ready.
